Dave Lewis joins the OC Premier Staff after a successful coaching career at the High School level. After serving 2 years (’90, ’91) as a Varsity Baseball Assistant at Katella High, Dave accepted a teaching position at Cypress High School in 1991. He worked as the top Assistant Varsity Baseball coach for his first 8 years at Cypress and was instrumental in building Cypress into a winning program. Prior to 1991, Cypress had only made the playoffs once in the school’s history. Dave took over the reigns as Head Coach in 2000 and promptly lead Cypress to its first League Championship in 2002. Dave’s Cypress teams went on to win 3 consecutive League Championships and finished off the 2005 season by winning the CIF Championship at Anaheim Stadium. Cypress ended that season ranked #6 in the nation. After a very successful 2005 season, Dave Lewis earned High School Baseball Coach of the Year honors from the Orange County Register, LA Times, and CIF Division II. Dave is privileged to have coached 2 first-round MLB draft picks as well as many baseball players who earned college scholarships. Dave retired from High School coaching after the 2005 season to spend more time with his family. He is a graduate of San Diego State and resides in Anaheim Hills with his wife and 3 children. He is still passionate about coaching baseball and now devotes his time to coaching teams at the youth level. Dave is very excited to be a part of the OCP staff.
