RDB 13U Lewis enjoyed a great weekend of baseball and came away with the Winterfest Championship! The team play hard, fundamental baseball all weekend. Sean Paquet got the start in game 1 and pitched a great 4 innings. Ryan Edwards threw 2 innings and Shawny Dumser pitched the 7th inning and got the save. With the scored tied 2-2, Justin Hendry got a 2 out RBI single in the 5th. That proved to be the difference in a great 3-2 win. RDB came out flat in game 2 on Saturday and lost 6-3 even though we had great pitching performances by Chris Burica and Grant King. We went into elimination Sunday as the #3 seed in the gold division. Brandon Chambers was on stage for the semi final game and did not disappoint. He pitched 7 innings of shutout baseball and got the win 4-0 against the Lookouts. Caleb Choe and Connor Seaman turned in great defensive performances. The offense was led by Tristan Lewis who was 1-2 with 2 RBI’s and executed a successful squeeze bunt. That win set up a match up in the Championship game against a very good Easton squad. Chris Burica got the start and kept Easton off balance for 3 1/3 innings. He handed the ball to Shawny Dumser with RDB in the lead 4-2. Dumser displayed an electric fastball and over matched the Easton hitters. Val Jenson showed great toughness in handling our pitching staff during the Championship game. The offense finally came alive and RDB extended the lead to 11-3. Caleb Choe, Shawny Dumser, Brandon Chambers, Connor Seaman, Justin Hendry, and Tristan Lewis all had two hits in the Championship game. Chris Burica had 3 runs scored. 13U Lewis has played in two tournaments thus far and has made it to the Gold Championship game in both. Congratulations to the team on a great weekend.
