14u Martinez advanced to the semifinal game Monday afternoon after completing a 9-0 win over the Storm BBC. Jared Cardenas had two doubles and pitched a complete game shutout. In the other half of the bracket the Oregon team had advanced to the championship after their semi-final win but they had to forfeit their championship spot due to an 8:00 departure back to their home town. It turned out that the Real Deal/ Venados winner would be crowned MLK CHampions by forfeit.

In their game Real Deal was looking strong early with a 4-1 lead going into the 5th. Venados came with in one in the 5th when James Tan started to labor. After a pitching chamge was made they did not let up and went on to score 3 more to take a 7-4 lead. There was no turning back and Venados went on to win the semi-final and was crowned MLK Champions by forfeit.

13u Lewis advance to the Championship Monday evening after a big win against the higher seeded Diamond Jaxx. Coach Lewis had his team playing hard after an early loss to the Riverside Expos. They took a 3-1 record to the championship only to meet the Expos in the final. RDB dug themselves into a hole with a few costly errors. The Expos took advantage of the errors along with a few big hits off starter Shawn Dumser. Real Deal’s strong effort in this tournament ended in a 12-2 loss to the Expos who plays in Major/AAA level tournament regularly.

12u Fahey had a tough first few days playing the three toughest teams in their pool play . Fahey’s team rebounded on Monday with a win against the Diamond Dream and walk off loss to the OC Sliders. Fahey’s group went to the semi-final of the Silver bracket. They will play next weekend in a USSSA event.
