13U Lewis loses 8-7 in Finals of State Championship Tournament

The Real Deal 13U Lewis team made a great showing last weekend in the State Championship Tournament. The team started the weekend with an impressive    3-0 win over the LB Dirtbags. Sean Paquet pitched a complete game shutout. He gave up only two hits and struck out 6. Haydon Nix and Brandon Chambers each had a hit and scored a run to pace the offense. Game 2 was against a very good Patriots squad. RDB exploded at the plate and came away with a 9-7 win. Shawny Dumser, Haydon Nix, and Justin Hendry each had two hits. Caleb Choe and Daniel Jung each scored two runs apiece. The team earned the #1 seed after Saturday’s pool play.  RDB Lewis squared off against RDB Borba in the Semi Finals. The Lewis team came out on top with a 5-1 win. Chambers pitched a complete game and was in control the entire time. He gave up 4 hits and stuck out 5. Chambers also contributed 3 hits in the game. Adding to the offense with two hits each was Chris Burica and Connor Seaman. Tristan Lewis pitched in with an RBI single. The Championship game was a rematch against the Patriots. The Patriots came out swinging the bat and jumped out to an early lead. Going into the last inning, RDB was trailing 8-3. Lewis and Val Jenson each singled to start the rally. Jung, Dumser, and Nix all drove in runs to cut the lead to 8-7. Unfortunately the rally ended there and we couldn’t push across the tying run. Overall it was another great tournament weekend for the RDB Lewis team. Congratulations!
